Lander and Busters

Our first major stop was Lander, WY and the cute RV park called Sleeping Bear RV Park. This is where we realized that the enormity of our trailer put us into a different category. The families with young children were at the other end of the park in reasonable sized campers and we were parked next to the retirees from Florida and elsewhere who meticulously washed their rigs and had kitschy signs that read “home is where you park it” or gems like “if this camper is a rockin’ don’t come a knockin’”. All while having back up beepers on their F-250’s and meeting up with each other around 1 pm each day for cocktails in the shade. We would lovingly refer to them as the “boomers” until Olive started calling them that in her not so delicate voice outside of the camper. She somehow changed it to “Busters” one day much to our delight and this age group will now forever be known as such. The Busters were incredibly kind, excited for our adventure, extremely willing to share their knowledge and best of all, in bed by 8:30.

We enjoyed Lander thoroughly, had great fun with my friend Heather and her family, and made the best purchase of the trip so far-bicycles! And Olive has her own special seat up front on her “Shotgun”.
