As we were on the east coast, I thought it was a good of time as any to explore the northeast. Originally we had planned to go during “leaf peeping” season, but I procrastinated too much and all the other peepers had booked most every place to stay. Thankfully, Sadee and Frog had great people to take care of them and we could take a plane and rent a little car versus drive the behemoth of Sunday on small old roads with low hanging wires and bridges.
We flew into Hartford, CT and stayed the night (primarily in order to scratch another state off) and travelled north through Massachusetts and Vermont and eventually made it to an AirBnB in northern NY that was originally a barn from 1850. It was nice to feel a little brisk morning air since we had not experienced temperatures below 55 since springtime in Montana. We went apple picking the last day of the season and found new varietals that were tasty and were surprised at how entertaining picking our own apples were and not as cheesy as expected.

After NY we headed east to stay in NH for a few days before heading to Maine for the week. We enjoyed Vermont, and although our host at the AirBnB was lovely, we have firmly crossed NY off our list of places where we would consider living.
We stayed near Lake Winnepesaukee in NH and enjoyed some nice weather and a hike while there. We were surprised at how busy the area was and the “white lives matter” advertisement on local television was a little off putting.
