Fall in the south means one thing- Football!! And sweating, but that generally happens year round. Walt has been talking about the grandeur and life changing experience it is to go to a Georgia Bulldogs home football game in Athens -between the hedges- for the entirety of the 13 years we have been together. He would scoff at MSU’s stadium and team and tell me that high schools have bigger stadiums where he was from. I never really grasped the religion that football is until I came south. It started when I saw a high school- high school!!!- football team being escorted by police and sheriffs in multiple buses on the interstate in nowhere Mississippi. It is a big deal around here. So one of the reasons why we were bent and determine to get to Georgia quickly was because I had a date with destiny…and Auburn.

Thankfully, the dawgs pulled out a W and I got to experience what nearly 100,000 people chanting together feels like in your core.

Having a kid free day to act a fool was glorious, and exhausting. Three days later, I maybe got my energy back.
Before the game, fall also means hunting and Walt had a trip to Canada to goose hunt planned for the last 6 months and since I was still technically unemployed, he went North and Olive, DeeDee and I went east to the beach. Unfortunately our trip got cut short by an impending hurricane, but watching Olive see the ocean for the first time was well worth it. It had been nearly 15 years since my toes had felt the sand of an ocean beach so I felt as if I was experiencing it anew with her. A jellyfish also wanted in on giving my toes a memorable experience and left me with a nice bumpy red keepsake.

As I look through my pictures September and October, it was a time filled with fun adventures of swimming, fishing, going to the GA National Fair, and spending great quality time with family. The adage of “they are only little once” kept circulating in my head and helped me to enjoy the present. It may be frustrating and challenging to “enjoy every day” and it may make you want to roll your eyes into the nether regions of your brain when people suggest it, as you know that every day won’t always be enjoyable. However, there are parts within each day that bring joy and being able to reflect upon and be grateful that you have that day is what I try to work towards to not let this unique time and experience slip away unnoticed.
So here is a photo dump of moments that were noticed and appreciated.
